Paradox

Hmmm Paradox! Wat can i say abt this famous english word. i was drawn to this word wen naresh and bhavesh mentioned tht my wishes in my previous post appear to be pardoxical.Yeah i agree with them that i am being paradoxical.Infact most of our actions, thoughts, words are finest examples of paradox. The word paradox has been the darling of many logicians and philospohers. For example lets consider the statement "This sentence is false" . Any sentence is either true or false and let the above mentioned sentence be true then according to the sentence meaning it is false which contradicts our assumption that the sentence is true. Now lets consider the other case that the sentence is false according to the sentence meaning , the meaning of the sentence is that the sentence is true.I guess its a bit a confusing but try to read it once more i am sure everybody appreciates wat i hav been trying to say.A sentence that too a simple one infact can act as a perfect paradoxical one.

People arnd us say one thing and do the exact opposite.Politics is a perfect ground where such instances are numerous. Our PM , who is known to promote merit in the education has now turned into a the forefront supporter of reservation bill.It may be bcoz of the pressure from party or so but still the words of the PM carry a larger weight which goes beyond the reach of the party. In fact its not only reservations, the hike in petrol prices which govt promised in UPA manifesto was the least followed. The governments everywhere in the world are perfect examples of paradox. The governments says it will protect the rights of the people but it is the one which is curbing their rights. The gujarat pogrom, the zimbambwe crisis are spear headed by their respective governments. The governments everywhere, are wedded to their official paraphernelia where their least wry abt their words and their actions.

So after writing this blog i hope i would be a little less paradoxical bcoz one cannot escape from one habits so easily...... Adios

What's this Mr.Dan Brown?

The Da vinci code is an undisputable best seller of modern times.By making this statement i am not proclaiming something new but just mearly quoting some of the rare reviews for the book. The book has entralled many people, of whom most are not regular readers of novels. The author has intelligently used the papacy and religious offices for the mass publicity campaining which was taken too far and H.H Pope himself was worried abt the authenticity of the facts mentioned in the book. It is interesting that the first page of the book mentions that the novel is a fictious one but infact the reader may soon forget the line and moves in sway with the author as patients sways to a hypnotist. The author almost convinces and infact convinced loads of them that a holy blood line is wandering somewhere among us and some similar statements. The author had roped in some of the greatest hoaxs and some famous personalites including Leonardo da Vinci to prove some of his claims.
There is no problem as far as the book is supposed to be viewed as a fictious one but this one surely crosses the line and place the reader in a puzzled situation abt the postulates which r the basis for Christianity. The real problem came jus few months back when Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh sued Random House the publishing company of the book , claiming the bestseller lifts from their 1982 book The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail. The case they put is tht the lineage of the jesus was their idea and dan brown had actually played with it.The case generated lot of interest as the Da vinci code movie starring Tom hanks is due release this month had to be stopped until the verdict is pronounced.Luckily for Dan Brown the verdict came in the favour of him so no harm done then. But it raised an ethical question, infact it is appropriate to call it as integrity question abt the way the author Dan Brown prepared his manuscript for "The Da Vinci Code".The point is that he was charged in several other court cases around the globe with IPS (Intellectual property Stealing). In last August, Brown was fighting a case in New York against writer Lewis Perdue, who claimed The Da Vinci Code plagiarised elements of two of his novels, Daughter of God, published in 2000 and 1983's The Da Vinci Legacy. The net result always seem to favour Mr. Dan Brown as he was able to get out of this by the magic word "Unprotectable ideas" as ideas like these are coherent and nyone can put their creativity to words.
The latest attack on Dan Brown is from a Russian Scientist from St. Petersburg, Mikhail Anikin, claims it was he who invented the phrase which Brown used to name his book, after he, had decoded the painting of the Mona Lisa which he claims to be an allegory of the Christian church, as the face of the woman is made up from two canonical images — the Virgin and Jesus Christ. The scientist claimed that he published same details some 3 yrs before Da vinci code and is hoping to prove that Dan Brown had infact had plagarised from his book. We don't know so as to how far this claim is correct but one thing is for sure that Da Vinci Code is not a genuine idea of Dan Brown. But who cares, the readers wants something new and so they don't care how an author gets the facts presented in the book but it should be the responsibility of the author to give credit to those who are associated even with the smallest part of the book. One thing is for sure Dan Brown played his cards well where other authors(on this idea) had failed which brought him money or fame . At this juncture we can do nothing but to wait to know more abt the probity of Mr.Dan Brown.
Till then.. Adios

Taming da CAT

Today is an important days for some ppl who r anxiously waiting for their CAT results. As always it would have been a mixed feeling, some gaining admission to da best Bschools in India and others cursing their luck for failing to cross the hurdle .For me today is a normal day getting up at 11 gng to lecture, cming bak, watching movie and then timepass. But then for a moment i thought abt the victorious nd ofcourse the failed ones how hard they must have been prepared so on and my thought went bak to the day i wrote the CAT exam. The scene was pretty clear me, getting up at 7.45 got ready and thinking abt whether to hav breakfast or not finally deciding to hav it then went to the center in a taxi paying 100 bucks(really) for 1 trip.As soon as i started to enter the exam hall i started yawing and believe me it went on and on till i started my xam. Obviously i was in a shock to see 90 question God! wat is this then quickly checked RC's.Then a firebolt struck only 3 RC's and they appeared as Greek and Latin to me.Hardly had i understood 1 RC, 1 hr was over. Then i got nervous, screwed up everything and ended up at 97.03%.
There is no point in thinking abt the past at this moment but i think that one shud never forget his/her failure. i have seen guys writing CAT 3 or 4 times jus bcoz they didn't get their choice of school(in most cases it is IIMA) . Failure as i heard is the stepping stone for success and i understand it now upon seeing some of the guys who work even 20hrs a day jus to land up in IIM's i think it is better to say tht Failure is the root cause of inspiration in this case atleast.
For they truly deserve the fruit of their hardships and so it again starts a viscious cycle absorbing more guys this yr and ofcourse more repeaters like me to prepare for this yr CAT.
Cheers for the winners and a pat for those who cudn't make this time....

A Tryst with a Vendetta

Remember Remember the fifth of november.......
Last nite i saw the latest hollywood blockbuster of Wachoski brothers which was rocking the hollywood since its release on march 17th , V for Vendetta truly a masterpiece which deserves a modest 8 on 10. The film, which was due to release in Nov 2005 was actually postponed bcoz of london bombings. The film raised a lot of questions(including ethical) abt the motives of the writers and the director. First and foremeost the basic plot deals with blasting of parliament(of course England) which was actually attempted by 19 men in 1605.The film captures the England in a futuristic sense wen it is ruled by a totalitarian govt(heavily inspired by the present day china) .The protagonist having has to face the tyranny of a misguided experiment transforms into a superhuman and fights against the govt with the help of a girl Evy(fantastically done by Natalie Portman).
The creators 0f matrix has a rare gift of usage(language) which is hardly found out in the present day movies and can make viewers sway their way. These kinda Films which emphasise more on the script and the language leave the viewer spellbound which is precisely wat happened to the souls who watched Matrix for the first time .Ofcourse i am sure that this film is no less wen compared to idea, taking. The only thing found short was of course a more clear or better screenplay.Hugo Weaving riding high on success with Matrix series(He was voted as the best sci fi villian of the 20th centuary) had done a remarkable role in the film even though he doesn't show his face even once (not even for a kiss). The director had rightly auditioned a british actor in the V role which is why the flow of language has created magic on the celluloid screen. The film notably is covered from Guardian to a local TOI has spurted a confusion on whether the movie was a supporting the cause of terrorism rooted in the modern world and according to me the film in no way has highlighted any aspect of terrorism and the blast of the parliament is a step taken to show the hatred of the people against their govt. The collapse of the system starts with the collapse of the components associated with it so parliament is an obvious choice which is why our BalSaheb actually desroys the cricket ground to stop the play(no hurt done to anybody so, kool...).
The movie also highlights the aspects of individual freedom and the govt depicted can also be taken as a metaphor to the current US govt which declares war every other year on some country for the one or other lame reason like Osama in Afganistan,WMD in Iraq and the question is did they find wat they r looking for? or atleast had gained ny thing worth substantial i guess nobody can answer this except Mr.bush .On the whole the film is enjoyable, thought provoking and finally carries the message of freedom which half the world seem to lack for reason unknown even to them.
